Arrivato in pochi giorni, l'immagine di questa versione del film uscita pochi anni fa è stata totalmente ripulita tanto che sembra un film appena uscito nelle sale, superiore alla già bella qualità della prima stampa del blu ray italiano. Alcune scene poi dove si vedevano errori di make up o errori di effetti speciali (vedi braccio Schwarzy che compare sotto a quello rotto dall'ingranaggio) , o facce di controfigure che sono state sistemate e tolte, la confezione contiene 2 dischi versione 2d e 3d. Non esistendo una versione in Italiano (penso che solo in Italia non è tornato nei cinema) è un acquisto obbligatorio per chi ama la saga.

Imperdibile per gli appassionati del genere nonostante la mancanza della lingua italiana, la conversione in 3d è fantastica così come lo era stata per l ' edizione del Titanic, inoltre la pellicola è stata rimasterizzata al meglio anche per una visione in 2d (quest 'ultima è nella versione estesa), sull audio non mi esprimo perché non ho ancora potuto testarlo su un impianto adeguato, posso solo dire che la traccia inglese è in dts 5.1, quella tedesca in 7.1.

Un vero capolavoro che non invecchia

Anche se siamo ormai abituati agli effetti speciali, questo film vale gli Oscar che ha vinto. E il valore aggiunto è il protagonista, che con pochissime espressioni riesce a comunicare ironia e persino dolcezza nei momenti giusti.

Al film cosa dire se non capolavoro? Insieme al primo rimane una pellicola cult. Per il resto video ottimo e audio decisamente migliore rispetto alle precedenti edizioni. Extra buoni. Peccato non ci siano le versioni DC ed Estesa come nell'altra, anche se come dicevo questa per audio/video non si batte e forse la versione Standard è anche la migliore. Confezione verde non il massimo ma ci si passa sopra. Spedizione velocissima.

Rieccomi a recensire un BluRay sperando sempre di essere utile ad altri acquirenti.

Il film è un capolavoro assoluto della fantascienza e del cinema in generale.Il migliore della serie ed uno dei migliori sequel mai fatti (Merita anche più delle cinque stelle).

L'edizione è decente, leggermente migliore della solita cover amaray in plastica in quanto stavolta ha una cartonatura esterna che la rende più gradevole.

Per i collezionisti consiglio però le edizioni straniere in SteelBook, ce ne sono almeno cinque o sei a seconda dei gusti. Alcune sono anche con l'audio in italiano, altre no ma basta sostituire il disco per avere un edizione da collezione che sia degna di questo nome.

Un piccola precisazione beneficio di tutti.

Questa mia recensione si riferisce all'edizione cartonata Real Heroes (edizione limitata ... dicono loro) che ho specificato nel titolo e non a quella in plastica semplice (cover Amaray) in vendita su Amazon o su tanti altri siti.

Purtroppo ho notato che le recensioni dei film vengono assegnate al titolo del film che si recensisce indipendentemente dall'edizione che uno ha acquistato e sta realmente recensendo.

Quindi questa mia recensione verrà vista da tutti coloro che acquistano un BluRay/DVD di Terminator 2 mentre la mia si riferisce esclusivamente all'edizione cartonata Real Heroes.

Passando alla qualità del film direi :

Comparto video : praticamente perfetto considerando anche che la trasposizione in BluRay non è banalissima su film vecchi come questo. Invece il salto dal DVD al BluRay si avverte immediatamente e vedrete Terminator 2 come non lo avete mai visto. Forse un pizzico di colorimetria troppo accesa ma il difetto è superabile (stesso piccolo problema di Terminator 1)

Comparto audio: Speravo molto meglio viste le tante edizioni uscite. Sicuramente meglio del primo film ma ancora lontano da standard accettabili rispetto a film di questa importanza. L'audio è ben distribuito ma i dialoghi sono sempre un po ovattati e finti rispetto al resto dell'audio. Peccato un'altra occasione persa.. se poi si sente l'audio inglese veramente ci dispiace enormemente di avere sempre materiale di serie B rispetto agli altri.

Magari aspettiamo ancora un altra edizione.. eppure di anni ne sono passati e di edizioni estere di qualità ce ne sono state.

Non parlerò dell'ottimo servizio Amazon, né dell'edizione BR che, a parte i commenti sull'audio che lascio agli esperti per le specifiche tecniche, consiglio per chi vuole fare un upgrade dell'edizione DVD Cecchi Gori. Il comparto video mi ha stregato! Non al pari con il lavoro fatto con il primo film della saga, ma comunque un passo avanti notevole, in attesa di una futura edizione definitiva, se mai arriverà. Il punto su cui voglio questionare è che, per quanto splendida visivamente, questa Reel Heroes Edition difetta del fatto che non è stato inserito il codice speciale per accedere alla versione Estesa del film. Quindi ve lo dico io in questa recensione prima di farvi prendere dai nervi (come è accaduto per qualche minuto a me dopo aver controllato in lungo e in largo sulla custodia): 82997 (in pratica, la data del Giorno del Giudizio 29-08-1997).
Ciò detto, acquistate tranquilli e godetevi uno dei migliori spettacoli della Fantascienza anni '90!

This one (ASIN: B00UFMKSDW) with the attached photos is the one to get. It doesn't have that evil DNR, waxed botoxian teal hysteria that plagued the 4K release, which was the worst UHD of all time but then came Pirates 1st part's UHD and quite recently, ALIENS 4K has joined hands with them.

It is that familiar and wholesome Californian glow about the film that we adored worldwide on VHS, and both Ultimate and Extreme Edition DVDs (Extreme DVD being the best looking T2 on DVD) that we have here (ASIN: B00UFMKSDW). Grain has been left mostly or entirely intact, which renders that filmic look quite brilliantly! I imagine, the frustrated and loyal restoration folks pledged unto fans in a secret oath ceremony and released this 2015 version (ASIN: B00UFMKSDW) without letting James Cameron fiddle with it as he did all other blu-rays afterwards and before. Whatever they did, they did great! This is the best looking T2 on blu-ray closer to its tape and DVD days; and as per genuine reviewers who saw it in theatres, closer to its original theatrical colour grading. None of these blu-ray releases have the original theatrical audio mix; one that they released only on the original version's DVD, which still fares better than all the tweaked tracks that came afterwards in all subsequent releases.

The only iffy hiccup with this one (ASIN: B00UFMKSDW) is, it does not have the third version which is the longest cut of them all, the extended special edition (Ultimate edition DVD mentioned above, the Skynet Edition blu-ray and the evil waxed botoxian teal-hysteria 4K have it). It simply inserts in the special edition, two extra scenes:
- one where T-1000 goes through / scans Kyle's room in a genius yet evil manner,
- and the ending CODA or that adorable alternate ending of Old Sarah (Linda Hamilton aged as fine wine in real life, by the way).
However, both these scenes are accessible on YouTube but having watched the film that way on DVD many a time, it is sad that it wasn't included in this release because if it were present, this release is all you would need for T2 that remains faithful to its film elements on silver screen, LD, tapes and DVDs!

This disc was originally released in 2015. The packaging / writing on back has been slightly updated when this particular one (ASIN: B00UFMKSDW) was re-released in 2019 but everything is exactly the same printed on disc as well as barcode and back cover; just changed spots and font. I even compared it with the original 2015 disc on ebay. On the front cover, artwork is the same, except this one doesn't have the line that says, includes both theatrical and special edition cuts.

I could see grain for the first time!
I did not see teal madness in that sweet golden hour shot!
I did not see any of the evil trait that unholy 4K was plagued with!
That made me happy!

A US PSVR1 and PS4 can watch this in 3D with English audio (PS5s will not work, even with a PSVR1).

It looks like it lumps all the Terminator 2 reviews together, so just to specify: This review is for the 3D bluray version that is available - It's hard to tell, but that actually is a Japanese bluray, even though everything on the front is English. But, if you have the right stuff, it doesn't matter that it's a Japanese bluray as it runs just fine with what I describe below. Just figured I'd clarify that, so on with the review...

The movie speaks for itself with how awesome it is - I wouldn't be saying anything that hasn't already been said regardless of how much I praised the movie itself. It's one of the best movies ever made, plain-and-simple. What I wanted to focus on is reassuring anyone looking to watch this in the US that it does work just fine watching it through a PS4 with a PSVR1.

So, to start: Even if you have a PSVR1, you still need to run that through a PS4 in order to watch this, or any 3D movie for that matter - A PS5 will not work. Why that is is because the PS4 is recognized as a '3D bluray player' while the PS5 is not - Due to this, 3D movies will not even run on a PS5 (it will simply come up with a message saying it isn't a 3D bluray player). This is an extremely unnecessary and stupid oversight on Sony's part, but it falls into the category of 'It is what it is', and it's best to know about these limitations so you don't order this and not be able to enjoy it. Also: The PSVR2 does not run 3D movies at all, probably largely because PSVR2s can only function with a PS5 which Sony didn't bother making compatible.

If you still have a PS4 and PSVR1 from the US, this will run just fine. The default audio is the audio from the original movie (it's in English). Japanese subtitles are turned on by default, but it is as simple as pressing a button once the movie is playing to bring up the menu that's built into the PS4 (I believe you press square to bring it up) and you can disable the subtitles from there - After that, you're watching the exact same 3D movie that you could've (and may have) seen in 2017 in theaters in the US. And, again: It's easier to disable the subtitles once the movie is playing with the PS4 menu since all the bluray menus are in Japanese, but the PS4 menu will be in English. So, in short: You don't need to know any Japanese in order to figure this out - It's pretty obvious what to select to make the movie play, then you can disable the subtitles through an English menu.

As for the 3D itself, it is extremely impressive and it's very trippy being able to see such an old movie in a new way. If you have a PS4, PSVR1, and the patience to sit down and watch a movie with a VR headset on, I'd highly recommend getting this. But, the main purpose of this review was to reassure those with a US PS4 and PSVR1 that it will run just as it did in theaters in 2017. Pretty awesome since they did such a limited run of the 3D blurays in the US that this movie is nearly impossible to find, and usually very expensive when you can find it.

So, if you do pick this up, enjoy!
