Questo volume non solo rappresenta un tributo alla serie di fantascienza per antonomasia, ma è una dichiarazione d'intenti oltre che d'amore nei confronti di un modo di vivere, di pensare, di concepire il mondo, i rapporti umani e quelli che probabilmente avverranno in futuro con specie aliene. Chi ama Star Trek non potrà che rimanere ammaliato dalla cura e dalla passione profusa nella realizzazione del su detto, oltre alla voglia di conoscere nel dettaglio gli eventi che caratterizzeranno i primi 150 della Federazione Unita dei Pianeti. Attraverso illustrazioni, documenti federali, interviste, lettere e molto altro è possibile andare nel dettaglio di un corpus di eventi memorabili chea vanno dalla stretta di mano tra Zefram Cochrane e Solkar durante il primo contatto tra umani e vulcaniani fino al ritono di Khan, passando per la missione del Capitano Archer e molto altro. Insomma un'opera immancabile per tutti gli appassionati.
Riguardo il prodotto, esso si presenta con una copertina in cartone rigido di ottima fattura, all'interno le oltre 167 pagine sono stampate in carta di alta qualità che rende piacevole e agevole la lettura. Nel complesso una realizzazione ottima che vale i soldi richiesti all'acquisto.

La bibbia di ogni Trekker......un oggetto di culto. Una raccolta cronologica dettagliata ed illustrata, dei primi 150 anni dell'universo di Star Trek. Dal primo contatto dei vulcaniani con i terrestri del 2063....fino alla nuova era passando attraverso la nascita della federazione unita dei pianeti. In questo libro, totalmente in Inglese, viene descritto minuziosamente ogni dettaglio, ogni carta e trattato redatto nelle saghe di star trek, compreso il discorso di Jonathan Archer durante la firma del trattato.Il libro è finemente rilegato custodito in una speciale teca che si illumina e descrive il manoscritto attraverso speciali altoparlanti. All'interno del volume è presente una busta con contenuto top secret, i piani di costruzione della prima nave a propulsione curvatura con motore a velocità worp 5 cioè la NX01, e ovviamente i piani tecnici della prima ed unica enterprise NCC1701 classe costitution.

Un oggetto assolutamente da possedere, e da buon collezionista e Trekker quale sono, non ho mai visto nulla del genere ad un prezzo così basso. Assolutamente da avere, è un oggetto che acquisterà valore nel tempo. Il prezzo originale è di 99,99 dollari, e qui su amazon l'ho acquistato per un terzo del suo reale costo!!!! A mio avviso è una vera bibbia di informazioni dove nulla viene lasciato insospeso.......inoltre tutte le pagine sono finemente illustrate con bozzetti in acquerello delle scene reali delle serie. Veramente un oggetto unico ed indispensabile nella collezione di un Trekker e non.

Certamente immancabile per gli appassionati trekkisti.

Il complesso dello stand e del libro sono più grossi di quanto immaginassi e la confezione è conseguentemente piuttosto grande.

Bellissimo, fatto molto bene e pieno di informazioni interessanti. Molto curato nei dettagli (c'è persino la finta bibliografia finale). Per gli amanti della serie e dei gadget di Star Trek è quasi imperdibile.

Leí este libro al tiempo que veía Star Trek Enterprise. Parece la crónica escrita de la serie, ya que ambos tratan del origen de la Federación, primeros contactos, conflictos, naves espaciales, amenazas... Está narrado como un libro de historia, los hechos narrados forman parte del pasado. Ha mi me gustó y me entretuvo.

I just got into it, but wow... Yeah... wow. It has cleared up quite a few things for me. I love the stand. So much that it's taken the place on the podium where the Darth Vader helmet used to be. I also like the way it's written. It's like a well written history book.

If you've ever been watching an episode of Star Trek and heard a throwaway line about something that happened "in the 22nd century" and wanted to know more, this book is for you. If you ever noticed an apparent contradiction in how the show quoted its own historical events, this book is for you. If you've ever thought about the universe that exists around the characters in the Star Trek and wanted to know how it actually works, this book is for you. If you loved the adventures of Captains Kirk, Picard, Archer, Janeway and Sisko and were curious about how the things they did shaped the events of their time, this book is for you.

To be clear, Federation: The First 150 Years is not a technical manual. It's not an art book. It's not about the history of Star Trek the franchise or Star Trek the television show. It is a history book of the titular United Federation of Planets, the interstellar political body whose flag the Enterprise proudly flies. The book is written in an "In Universe" style, meaning that from the beginning to end, everything is from the perspective of a historian living and writing about Star Trek events as if they actually happened.

While that might sound dry, Goodman's prose is snappy and peppered with quotes and "first person" accounts, giving it a lot of flavor and personality. Clearly Goodman has a background and interest in real-world history, a background that informs the decisions he makes as he ties together all the one liners and throwaway comments from dozens of Star Trek episodes and movies into a believable, cohesive, and enjoyable narrative about the founding and growth of one of scifi's most famous interstellar nations.

Then there's the art. I've seen other reviews comment with disappointment about the art style in the book, but I disagree heartily. It was a bold and expensive choice for the publisher to commission dozens of new illustrations featuring events, seen and unseen, from the Trek canon. Some have complained that they were expecting more screenshots from the shows, but I disagree - this volume is an illustrated history written in style that, cover to cover, takes the Star Trek universe seriously. To use simple photos from the shows would break the immersion, as rarely are cameras really present at these historical events, and the few that were certainly wouldn't happen to have the same composition as a still frame from the television shows. The watercolors in the book elevate the work considerably, making it feel archival and purposefully crafted.

And that doesn't touch on all the other inclusions: newspaper clippings, snippets of important treaties and documents, and the extra set of materials tucked away in the back jacket. All designed with great care, flavor and attention to detail.

It's hard to overstate how many amazing nuggets are waiting to be found for a fan who has grown up with, and wanted to live at least a little part of their own life in the same universe as Captain Kirk and the rest.
