About the product: the box presents this very pretty cover, perfect to display on your bookshelf; the quality of the material is definitely high; illustrations are gorgeous and hopefully they will add the missing characters. I recommend this to all Throne of Glass hardcore fans; if you just started the series or if you haven't read it yet, first finish it and THEN play this game or you're going to get lots of spoilers!

It's a real shame, as I'd been looking forward to playing it for some time, however had noticed a few people saying how complicated it is, so put off playing it.
Unfortunately, the rule book is extremely confusing, even for the Prologue, and it only gets more complicated from there. We moved onto the 1st chapter (as the game is split into 7 chapters) without truly completing the prologue, as we thought we had the gist of it and were curious to see what the rest of the game was like.
We tried it for an hour, and then gave up. It was sort of fun but the problem we had (like many others) was how complex the rule system is. We only found out through watching a video from Osprey Games (the ones who made this game) that the way we had understood the rules wasn't quite right and even with them explaining it, it still didn't make sense.
It's not all bad though, the cards of the characters from the series are absolutely stunning! They feature Aelin, Rowan, Chaol, Dorian and many others, so I'll be keeping the box just for those, as they really are beautiful to look at.
It's just a shame that the card game was executed so poorly. My friend did wonder if it would be better as a board game, like monopoly, where you could move around the board playing as one of the main characters, and you would have a clear start and end goal and I agree with her. It would have made the experience a lot better if it was a board game.
Overall impression, I'm glad I bought it as the cards are lovely representations of the characters I hold dear; but the game itself is far too complex and makes little sense to make it a worthwhile experience playing. Who knows, maybe they'll redo it as a board game one of these days?

Playability wise, it's not straightforward at all. It's a shame I won't use it as a game and it'll be relegated to a shelf sadly.
