Dopo aver messo mano sui titoli del brand Bravely della Silicon Studio e aver visto i vari lavori fatti dal character designer principale della serie, ovvero Akihiko Yoshida, non ho potuto fare a meno di prendere questo Artbook.
All'inizio ho avuto i miei dubbi, temendo di ricevere un prodotto che andasse sotto le mie aspettative, invece mi sono ritrovato con un volume che mi ha lasciato più che soddisfatto:
- fin da subito salta all'occhio la splendida cover art (osservabile anche all'interno) che abbraccia la copertina rigida del volume
- per la copertina e le pagine sono stati usato ottimi materiali, rendendo di conseguenza il volume molto solido grazie ai suoi 1,6 kg
- ben 250 pagine di immagini tra concept art, immagini pubblicitarie e molto altro, il tutto provvisto di vari commenti da parte degli autori
- delle immagini speciali da usare con la RA del 3DS, durante l'uso di Bravely Default, che permettono la visione di alcuni filmati legati ai personaggi del gioco che altrimenti sarebbero impossibili da vedere normalmente
- benché i testi non siano in italiano, la traduzione inglese risulta più che fruibile

What I want from an art book is variety: character art work, concept art, rough sketches, monster/creature artwork, scene illustrations, LOCATIONS, etc. This book has all of that and more. And another thing it has that I love are artist's notes. It's very interesting seeing the art along with the artist's notes. It helps you slow down and enjoy the book a page at a time, rather than just quickly glancing at the artwork and moving on. And it's all in English too so I can actually understand it! So many art books are only available in Japan and obviously if you can't read Japanese, the artist's notes and all the details are pretty unimportant if you can't understand it.
I have been getting into art books a lot more lately and have noticed just how much better the standalone art books are, especially when it's a huge book covering 1 game. I also have an art book for Breath of Fire and Dragon Quest (sold on Amazon as well), but there's so much more variety when you're only working with 1 game. It means you don't have to leave anything out.
With the Breath of Fire art book, you'll get mostly character and monster art work and then a page or 2 of location art work, but that's because there's so many games to cover. If you're going to go for an art book and it's big and covers only 1 game, you know it's going to be more interesting.
I have only good things to say about this art book. I think it might be my favorite one in my collection so far. It's also a large size so the artwork really has room to shine. And the artwork is absolutely stunning. The art style for the game is very distinct and beautiful and the artstyle really shows off in this book.
The hard cover just seals the deal by offering high quality, sturdy material. The book feels great to hold and look through. No loose pages or crappy infrastructure. Companies making art books need to take notes from this book. This is the quintessential art book and a must-have for fans of the Bravely series.

So this artbook came out awhile ago in Japan but for the first time released in North America. The book is hard cover mat feel and all the printing seem to be in glossy high quality. Another great thing is each image has commentaries below to understand artists intent. Definitely a great gift for fans of Bravely series and this art style (also beat Octopath Traveler).
